It was when Amanda was a baby and we had relocated to Colarado Springs. I saw one tumbling down the street and had to ask what it was. I thought it was a totally awesome sight. I had seen them in the old western movies and now I was seeing one for real. I was a real goof. Now I am living in a land where some of those very same movies were made (there are some old movie sets still around here) and tumbleweeds run amuck. They grow in your yards just like dandelions do back home. They may look awesome when they are in tumble mode but let me tell you they are not so awesome when they are growing in your yard. They grow to small bush stage and they are loaded with little prickly thorns all over them. As you all know we are staying with Bonnie and Gary until we can get a house of our own. They live on a golf course  here in  Hurricane. Rich and I spend some of our pastime sitting up on the balcony watching the golfers thru a pair of binnoculars. I love it when they hit them into the pit down below. Usually this huge pit doesnt have any water in it and there are enough bad golfers out in the world that I have managed to collect over 50 golf balls. Silly isnt it? This pit is here and ever after called "My ball pit". I take great pleasure in hiking down there and collecting every body elses misfortune. I intend to learn to play and while I can get golf balls pretty cheaply at Walmart when I need them they wont have a story attached to them like these will. My first two days off in a row. I worked 5 had a day off, worked 5 more had another day off, worked 5 more and now it is the big two day reward. I am not sure what we will do but all I care is that I don't have to go to work. The truly silly thing now is I work Saturday and then have Sunday off and work 3 more days and have another day off. I really have to wonder about how this benefits Walmart. I am sure it does tho or it would not be happening. The big goofs. Things are getting better on the work front tho. he worst part of the day is unloading trucks. Nothing comes in on pallets. It is all thrown into the back of a semi trailer loose. Big stuff, small stuff it doesnt matter. Then when we open the big door all kinds of things fall out on us. I cant figure that out either. Oh so many things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm. She had two shots and left the office with 2 medicines to take. She was feeling all special I guess. She was sporting her pink harness and when she sees that coming out she knows she is going someplace. That thrills her to no end. Amands's man John bought her a new water bowl just so she could have a drink of water before they got home. I thought I spoiled her.........giggle. As awful as it sounds, I was thrilled that she was stressed (not really thrilled) but sometimes you wonder how your absence affects them and does it really matter that you are not there when the people you left her with are people she has grown up around and likes. And I will admit (while it may make we sound nuttso) that I have talked to her on the phone a couple of times. She always listens intently and tries to lick the phone. She called me earlier in the week and said that Maggie was sick. It has gone on for 5 days now and she is losing weight rapidly. Manda is taking her to the vet this morning. I know she is "just" a dog in others eyes but to me she is my baby and I am worried about her. She is five now and when I got her she was just 5 weeks old. Another 5 days and I will acually get 2 days off (I think). They are wearing my hiney plum out. Rich is in Idaho with his sister and brother-in-law moving Rich out of his apartment. He has been gone two days and I have been left to ramble here all alone. It has been nice only because I have the tv all to myself. That is the ONLY good thing about it. I havent slept worth a crap since he has been gone and I am really tired. He hasnt either so I am not alone in that. I have pictures of the inside of the house and I am afraid to post them for fear something will go wrong and we wont get the house and then here I have posted pics of it everywhere. Soooooooo I will wait and see what happens. We have the contracct finally and the bank has everything they need to process it all. I still am not enjoying it much but am holding out to see what happens. I suppose the move has a lot to do with it. I need to meet new people who have the same interests as me. I am not sure they work at Walmart tho. I find myself in a somewhat odd situation. The ratio between English and Spanish speaking people is pretty low and so I find myself in the middle of a group of people speaking their naive language and I cant understand a thing they are saying. I am shaking my head and wondering how this happened. Am I going to have to learn a new language now so I can get by in my day to day life? I am the only white english speaking girl in my group. To make matters worse we help unload the trucks at the end of the day and don't ya know the guys are all spanish speaking too and they and the girls all chat each other up and I am the odd man out. In the wonderful world of Walmart this is just another day like all the rest.  My schedule is a rotating 7 week schedule and I don't ge tthe same days off every week. This is a first in my illustrious career here. This week I have worked 5 days and get Saturday off. Then it is back to work on Sunday and I get next Friday off after 5 more days I am not sure if I get 1 day or 2. It is a confusing schedule and I am giving serious thought to going down to part time. At least then I have three days off each week which sounds pretty good to me right now considering................... I think tomorrow, if Rich can arrange it, we will get inside our new house to be and take pictures so we can post them. Everyday at work I  am decorating it in my mind. That is it for my morning exercises.....giggle.  Today is my first day back to work at Walmart. I have mixed emotions about it. A small part of me is wanting to go back just for the routine and meeting new friends and the really big part of me is not wanting to walk away from my husband for eight whole hours. We have spent everyday, 24/7 together and now that is over. The wonderful part of it is that I know he will be here waiting when I get home......woohoo.....that makes my heart sing. We should get the news today about our house and wether they accepted our bid. But dont ya know nothing is ever as simple as it seems and we still don't have it. So here I am at the library again just trying to keep in touch with all of you. The search for a house is an on going thing. We have made an offer but havent heard from them yet. I say they are gonna need two days to quit laughing but then what do I know. If this one doesnt work out we have three other choices to work thru. I am ready for a house of my own. I begin work on the 28th or there about. I am excited about it. They are building a new walmart here in the town we are living in. It will open February 2009. I am hoping to get into the manager trainee program before then so that I can start in the new store as an assistant. If not maybe I can start as a dept manager. It doesnt hurt to aim big................The temps here are running in the 105 - 107 range and from what I understand I havent seen anything yet. We have spent everyday of the last week out driving around looking for a home. The rents here start at $900 and go upwards from there. We have been prequalified so now we at leat know what we can look at buying wise. This is all very exciting to me cause I haven't EVER bought a new house. Our heads are swimmging with what we have seen so far and we havent even really gotten into it. There are so many things to tell you all and not enough time. I am keeping notes tho. We will have computer access at Bonnie and Gary's next week. I am at the public library now. I just had to come let you all know that we are still alive and kicking. Most of it evolves around our Mother and how she feels about each of us.  Somebody always thinks Mom loves somebody else better and maybe does more for one than another. It has been a joke at times with all of us and a pretty serious thing at one time or another for each of us.  I have decided (as a mother myself) that it isn't really Mom loving somebody more than another so much as it is how she responds to each of us as individuals. There are 7 of us and we are all as different as night and day. Each of us has our own set of rules to live by (even tho Mom taught us each the same) and we all respond differently to the same things. Knowing that, it makes it pretty easy to see that we each bring  something different to our relationship with Mom. Our realtionship with her is going to be as individual as we are. It didnt dawn on me until my visit at the Ridge with Mom and Peg, just what this last year has meant to me. I have leaned to like me again. It has been such a long time for that. I have remembered things that were stuffed back in the memories of long ago and they are things that make me what I am today.This visit home made me realize just how many things no longer hold me back.   It is okay to begin my life again and leave the old one behind. Living in Missouri has taken me back to things that used to be important to me and got shoved back to make room for things that at the time seemed more important. It wasnt so. Rich will be leaving Idaho on Saturday the 24th or there abouts, and arriving here on Monday or Tuesday. On Tuesday we will venture out to the courthouse and apply for a marriage liscense. In Missouri you have to wait three days for the liscense to be available so that means we will get married on the 30th (Friday) By the time the 31st hits we will be on the road for Illinois so that Mom and Dad can meet Rich. We will leave from there and head to Iowa to visit for a few hours with his sister-in-law Frances. I havent met her but am looking forward to it. We have chatted some on the internet. Then begins the journey to Idaho where we will start the packing process of Rich's place. We are relocating to St George Utah where I will continue to work for Walmart.
